Great work! I enjoyed the read and it is fantastic to see more folks taking an interest in player evaluation. In case you missed it, I did some work building off of Shawn's first NWHL formula in 2019 and some have used it as an imperfect formula over the last several seasons.
Given the data that is publicly available now, we can do a lot of exciting work with rate statistics that just wasn't a possibility before the PWHL kicked off. It's a really exciting time to dig into all of this.
Oh my god, I somehow completely missed this! This was a great read and awesome to see an updated formula for the NWHL/PHF with the updated information to things like primary and secondary assist weights (and appreciate your work with Their Hockey Counts to track that data and archive it so that we can even look back at PHF/NWHL statistics and still do analysis like Game Score for players with a lot of the official league websites going dark in 2023.) Thank you so much for sharing this!
